Natural Parks
The natural Parks of "Sierra de Grazalema" (a summit of 1.654 m) and "Los Alcornocales" belong to the largest protected natural parks of Spain.
The evergreen "Sierra de Grazalema" is a beautiful walking area with a high diversity in landscaping. Mountaintops, the lagoon-blue lake of Zahara, the with snow coverd mountain tops, the rolling hills covered with olive trees, cork trees and the rare silver spar ( a living fossile).
Since the area is so divers, so is the flora and fauna. Walking trails are available in every kind. Beautiful mountain villages such as Ubrique, Grazalema, Zahara de la Sierra, Benahoma and El Bosque form part of this unique nature reserve and are worthwhile a visit. waard. More information here
The natural park "Los Alcornocales" is the largest natural park of the province of Cádiz. The park consists of a few low mountain ridges covered with Mediterranean shrubs and impressive amounts of cork oak, the most important forest of this type of tree in Spain. Th Nationaal Park "Doñana , a natural reserve of about 100000 hectares, of fundamental importance for the whole European bird (species). The park is located at the Atlantic Coast at the estuary of the Guadalquivir. The park has salt lakes and lagoons. Large amounts of migration birds spend the winter over here : flamingo´s, geese, crane bird, white stork. Cork Oaks grow in the dry part and wild pigs and dear live here. A big colony of the Spanish king Eagle is present. It is as well the only place in Europe that provides a natural habitat for the lynx. More information click here
